Visalus Shake Review – Are Visalus Shakes Good for Weight Loss?

There are a lot of supplement brands and diet plans on the market, which makes it hard to determine which you should bother purchasing. One of the many brands promoting health products is Visalus. Visalus shakes and products are a mix of ingredients that can help satiate your hunger and provide necessary nutrients for a healthy body.

However, are Visalus shakes actually healthy? In my opinion, no. Instead of drinking Vi shakes, which are full of artificial sweeteners and low-quality protein, I suggest you drink Your Super protein shakes, like this:

Let’s look at some of the ingredients of Visalus shakes, and review whether or not they are actually healthy for you!

Vi Shake Review

Overall, I don’t recommend that you choose to drink Visalus shakes for weight loss or any other goals. Here’s why:

Visalus Shake Ingredients

After reviewing the ingredients of Visalus shakes, my determination is that they can be beneficial for a diet program such as IIFYM, flexible dieting. However, I would not suggest them if you are actively trying to reduce the amount of artificial or processed ingredients you are ingesting or trying to eat a diet that contains all organic foods.

If you aren’t necessarily worried about artificial ingredients or the type of ingredients in your product, there are many beneficial aspects of Visalus shakes. For example, a few qualities of Visalus shakes are:

  • Good Source of Fiber (5g per serving)
  • Contains Kosher Dairy
  • Uses Non-GMO Soy Protein
  • Contains 26 Vitamins and Minerals
  • Packed with Protein (12g per serving)
  • Gluten-free
  • Calcium for Bone Health
  • Low Sugar (<1g per serving)

Additionally, there are many negative aspects of Visalus shakes that cannot be ignored. For example, Vi Shakes contain a laundry list of stabilizers and sweeteners. The flavors are completely artificial, and there are many healthier options for protein shakes or your meal replacement supplement.

Furthermore, I am personally not a fan of whey protein or soy protein. There are various links between soy protein and increased estrogen production in men, and the health benefits of soy protein are not conclusive. As stated by a study published in The Journal of Nutrition,

“Some studies have documented potential safety concerns on increased consumption of soy products. Impacts of soy products on thyroid and reproductive functions as well as on certain types of carcinogenesis require further study in this context. Overall, existing data are inconsistent or inadequate in supporting most of the suggested health benefits of consuming soy protein or isoflavones (ISF).”

Whey protein is a generally useful protein powder, however, I prefer vegan protein powder such as Your Super Muscle Powder:

Visalus Shake Recipes for Weight Loss

If you are going to make Visalus shakes, almond milk is your best option for making the best Visalus shakes.

Almond milk has a soft creamy-nutty taste, so it’s nice to drink even without additives.

At the same time, one cup of almond milk contains no more than 30 kcal, which is a good choice for those who are on a diet.

Almond milk also contains a lot of calcium, and up to 50% of the daily recommended value for Vitamin E, an antioxidant that prevents wrinkles and skin aging. Almond milk is also good for smoothies, and it contains a moderate amount of protein.

Furthermore, almond milk contains fewer calories than soy milk, and it also contains many polyunsaturated fatty acids (omega-3 and omega-6).

Along with that, it contains flavonoids, which have benefits including:

  • Vasoconstrictive
  • Bactericidal
  • Anti-Tumor

In comparison with normal milk, almond milk contains less protein, but significantly more vitamins and minerals. For example, almond milk contains more:

  • Vitamin B12
  • Calcium
  • Magnesium
  • Iron

The calcium in almond milk can provide nearly all of your daily requirement! The delicate aroma of almond milk fits perfectly into hot drinks, puddings, or pies.

Here are a few specific Visalus shake recipes you can try:

Strawberry-Almond Visalus Shake Recipe

For this recipe you will need:

  • One Glass of Almond Milk
  • One Glass of Frozen Strawberry
  • One Frozen Banana
  • Two Scoops of Visalus Mix
  • Three Ice Cubes

Mix your almond milk, frozen strawberries, frozen banana, ice, and Visalus mix together.

Mix until the consistency is homogenous in the blender.

Enjoy your meal!

Additionally, you can add a little bit of vanilla extract, strawberry topping, or some freshly crushed almond into the drink.

Visalus Shake Recipe – Vitamin Shake

For this shake recipe with almond milk you need:

  • 250 ml of Almond Milk
  • One Scoop of Visalus Shake Mix
  • One Banana
  • Blueberries
  • One tbsp of Lemon Juice (optional)
  • Spinach

Mix all ingredients into a homogenous smoothie, starting from liquids to fruits and veggies. Next, add your Visalus shake mix and pour some lemon juice.

Enjoy your fresh and healthy shake!

Visalus Shake Recipe – Carrot Shake

This carrot shake is very light, and at the same time nutritious.

It can be consumed both before or after the workout. For this recipe you will need:

  • One Glass of Carrot Juice
  • 250 ml of Almond Milk
  • Two Bananas
  • Cinnamon

Mix the carrot juice, almond milk, banana, and a small amount of sugar,  then add cinnamon. The color is wonderful, and the taste too!

You can substitute any of these ingredients with similar ones, such as other juices to your taste.

Concluding Thoughts – Should You Drink Visalus Shakes for Weight Loss?

Since I have conducted product reviews on a variety of different protein powders, meal replacements, and supplements in general, I can confidently say there are many better options than Visalus shakes. Visalus shakes are not cost-effective, and you are much better off getting your daily protein requirements from whole foods or plant-protein supplements.

If you are considering trying Visalus shakes, I suggest you try Your Super protein supplements instead:
