Sunwarrior Plant Based Protein Products Review!

Sunwarrior Plant Based Protein Products Review!

As many of you know, I have strayed away from many protein powders and protein products over the last couple years due to stomach issues and a desire to focus on more natural foods.

In the last 2 years I’ve probably used no more than 3 types of protein powder totally, and I honestly feel much better because of this!

However, I have still been looking for a protein powder which I can consistently keep in my diet that doesn’t affect my stomach negatively, and helps me recover from workouts well.

Although whey protein will probably always be the most commonly used type of protein, plant based protein powder and protein bars are far more effective in my opinion.

By using high quality plant based protein sources for your supplements you not only get the protein and amino acids your body needs to recover, you are also getting valuable micronutrients that you don’t get from other sources.

Another crucial factor to me is that protein powders and protein bars should not be sweetened with artificial sweeteners or flavorings.  There are a lot of companies which claim to produce plant based protein products, but they ruin them by adding too many other ingredients which are unnecessary.

Sunwarrior is one company I was fortunate enough to recently find that makes protein powders and protein bars that are exactly what I am looking for!

Sunwarrior produces products that are not overly processed, retain vital micronutrients, vitamins, and minerals, and utilize real food from nature around us to help our bodies!

Below I will talk about a few of the various products I tried, and I am honestly sure you will be happy to try them yourself!

Sunwarrior Illumin8

The first product I will talk about is their Illumin8 organic meal replacement, which I tried in both mocha flavor and vanilla bean.

For me, these flavors were perfect.

I am a huge fan of any coffee-type protein powders, so the mocha obviously was my favorite.

What is more important though is that as far as a “meal replacement” type powder, the Sunwarrior Illumin8 contains enough essential macronutrients and micronutrients to truly benefit your body.

One of my key issues with many meal replacement powders is that they contain macronutrients which wills satiate you, but they entirely skip the important micronutrients, vitamins, and minerals that your body needs to stay healthy.

The Illumin8 powder contains:

  • Baobab
  • Chia
  • Flax
  • Whole Grain Brown Rice
  • Kelp
  • Holy Basil
  • Guava
  • Coconut
  • Healthy Fats
  • Gluten Free Carbohydrates
  • And more!

I was particularly impressed that this power was enough to keep me from feeling hungry for nearly 3 hours while driving one day!

One morning when I had to travel I drank 1 simple shake of this before hitting the road, and I made 3 hours into my trip before stopping for another snack.  For me, this is impressive!

They key to this product is that the micronutrients sustain your body, since it is made from real plant ingredients.  A regular meal replacement shake will not keep your body running, no matter how much protein or carbohydrates it contains.

Sunwarrior Sol Good Protein Bars

The next Sunwarrior product that I tried was their Sol Good Protein Bars.

To be perfectly honest, I normally hate protein bars.

The reason for this is that most protein bars are filled with so many bad ingredients, you are better off with eating a Snickers and then drinking 1 scoop of whey protein.

Overall, that’s going to be a better option compared with a lot of protein bars.

However, I was incredibly surprised with these!

The Sol Good Protein Bars contain between 17 and 19 grams of protein depending on which flavor you choose, and are made from entirely real plant-based ingredients only.

Main ingredients of these protein bars include:

  • Whole Grain Brown Rice
  • Yellow Peas
  • Sunflower Butter
  • Quinoa

The Blueberry Blast and Cinnamon Roll bars are particularly delicious in my opinion!

Similar to their Illumin8 protein powder, the micronutrients in this protein bar is what sets it apart further from any other protein bar on the market!

If you are looking for an excellent on-the-go snack, you honestly cannot beat these!

Concluding Thoughts on Sunwarrior Plant-Based Products

Plant-based protein powders and protein bars are an excellent way to stay healthy day in, and day out.

However, there are not that many great choices out there right now.

If you want excellent products which contain the macronutrients and micronutrients that you need in your diet to be fit and healthy (which you obviously do), Sunwarrior products are 100% for you!

Whether you need a quick snack after your workout, or protein snacks to get you through your work day, I am personally recommending these Sunwarrior plant-based products!

Sunwarrior has an awesome line of other products as well that I highly suggest you check out yourself!

Their products contain a range of different plant products, calories, protein, and other variations.

Take a couple minutes to check out all of their products, and I am sure that you will like what you find!

  • Big win on the road yesterday! 6-3 on the season now.

Here are a couple exercises from my workout today. I hope you can notice the one small difference I made on these Bulgarian Split squats. Instead of using a flat bench to place my rear foot, I used a bench with a slight incline. Doing so makes the ankle flexibility a bit easier and changes the stress of the movement a little different. If your ankles are tight and Bulgarian Split Squats are uncomfortable for you, give it a try!
•
The 2nd exercise is a core movement that I added some weight too. The “pull-over” movement (14kg Kettlebell) adds some more muscles into the movement making it a bit more challenging.
