The role of a fitness trainer in our Western society has quickly become more demanding, as well as more profitable.

As American obesity, has continued to be a pertinent issue, qualified personal trainers have become in demand much more frequently, to assist people on their weight loss journeys.

Aside from just specifying exercises, amount of sets and amount of reps, personal trainers are now needed to understand as many of the different complexities of physical health as possible to help clients attain goals of increasing strength and athletic ability, weight loss, and building a more aesthetically pleasing physique!

Role of a Personal Trainer

The primary job of a personal trainer has always been to help clients with building functional body strength, as well as helping them achieve goals of muscle gain or weight loss.

Athletes such as football players and basketball players will normally need their personal trainer to help them build lean muscle mass year-round, while also helping them build explosive power and strength.

Along with needing to understand which exercises will be most effective for a given client, a personal trainer also needs to have a strong understanding of diet and nutrition.  It is very easy for someone to tell you to only eat fruits, vegetables, and not eat refined sugar, but a well-rounded diet that you will be able to stick with is much more intricate than these basic rules.

The personal trainer you choose needs to understand your personality, and how to train you and choose a diet strategy based off that.

Not every person can stick to the same type of diet, and understanding these complexities of each individual can make or break their fitness journey!

For example, both the “If It Fits Your Macros,” and “Paleo” diet plans are suitable for any number of people.  However, the type of person who will be successful with each diet is drastically diet.  Your trainer needs to be able to identify which specific diet plan will work with you, and guide you towards your goals!

Before you hire a personal trainer, it is necessary that you research their background and certifications, to understand if they are the type of person you think you will be successful training with!

No matter how intelligent the trainer is, they still need to specifically understand you as an individual, to help you achieve results!

  • Big win on the road yesterday! 6-3 on the season now.

Here are a couple exercises from my workout today. I hope you can notice the one small difference I made on these Bulgarian Split squats. Instead of using a flat bench to place my rear foot, I used a bench with a slight incline. Doing so makes the ankle flexibility a bit easier and changes the stress of the movement a little different. If your ankles are tight and Bulgarian Split Squats are uncomfortable for you, give it a try!

The 2nd exercise is a core movement that I added some weight too. The “pull-over” movement (14kg Kettlebell) adds some more muscles into the movement making it a bit more challenging.
