Hello! Thank you for visiting my website – Adam Kemp Fitness. This site contains affiliate links as well as general health and fitness information. Please read my Medical Disclaimer, Review Disclaimer and Writing Disclaimer for more information.

No, you cannot lose weight overnight if you eat terrible each day. However, if your diet and lifestyle is already in check, you can make a few adjustments to your typical routine to lose weight overnight, as if you were hitting the gym for an extra workout during that time!

The key to losing weight overnight is improving your sleep cycle and muscle recovery. If you sleep well, your muscles will recover, and your metabolism will steadily increase.

Over time, you will notice that you are waking up each morning much leaner and more aesthetic looking.

If you want to learn how to lose weight overnight fast, keep reading below!

How to Lose Weight Overnight – 5 Simple Tips

You can improve your sleep cycle and muscle development by using any of these 5 tips.

However, you can certainly combine many of them as well.

Some of these tips work synergistically, while some of them don’t.

1.     Citrulline Malate Before Bed

There are numerous reasons to use citrulline malate, and it is truly one of my favorite supplements. Many people drink citrulline malate before exercising because it helps improve work capacity and blood flow (which I often do as well), you can also take citrulline malate before bed.

If you want to try this, I suggest drinking your citrulline about an hour before bed.

According to a study conducted on citrulline malate,

“The study in the animal was blind and placebo-controlled with two randomized parallel groups. Results showed that citrulline malate stimulates hepatic ureogenesis and favorizes the renal reabsorption of bicarbonates. These metabolic actions had a protective effect against acidosis and ammonia poisoning and explain the anti-fatigue properties of citrulline malate in man.”

Although drinking citrulline before training is the most common option, drinking CM before bed is effective as well for helping you lose weight!

If you would like to try drinking citrulline malate for losing weight overnight, my favorite citrulline malate product is:

PrimaForce Citrulline Malate Powder

2.     Apple Cider Vinegar at Night

Another health product which you can use to help you lose weight overnight is apple cider vinegar.

Especially for those people who cannot help but eat a higher-carb diet, ACV is a great option. I am a strong believer in ACV for weight loss, and there are even limited studies on ACV before bed which indicate apple cider vinegar can help you lose weight overnight.

According to a study published in Diabetes Care,

“These data suggest that vinegar ingestion at bedtime may favorably impact waking glucose concentrations in type 2 diabetes. The antiglycemic effect of acetic acid, the active ingredient in vinegar, has been attributed to reduced starch digestion (5) and/or delayed gastric emptying (6). Neither of these proposed mechanisms likely explains the effects noted herein; moreover, to our knowledge, this is the first report describing a hypoglycemic effect of vinegar apart from mealtime.”

The study used a dosage of 2 tablespoons of ACV before bed, which is how much I would recommend as well.

If you would like to try using ACV before sleeping for weight loss, my favorite ACV brand is:

Bragg’s Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar

3.     GABA

GABA supplements promote sleep quality and muscle development, which is why it is one of the best supplements for trying to lose weight fast overnight!

According to a study published in Neuroscience,

“Recently, a specific GABA(C) receptor antagonist was synthesized and found by i.c.v. infusion to increase waking at the expense of slow-wave sleep and paradoxical sleep. Since the sensitivity of GABA(C) receptors for GABA is higher than that of GABA(A) and GABA(B) receptors, GABA(C) receptor agonists and antagonists, when available for clinical practice, could open up a new era for therapy of troubles such as insomnia, epilepsy and narcolepsy. They could possibly act at lower doses, with fewer side effects than currently used drugs.”

There are also other pathways through which GABA intake improves lean muscle mass development, which was demonstrated in the study Combined Oral Intake of GABA with Whey Protein Improves Lean Mass in Resistance-trained Men.

If you want to try a GABA supplement before bed to lose weight, my suggestion is:

Utzy Natural’s Stay Asleep

4.     Melatonin

Melatonin is truly a sleep supplement, but it has other properties which improve muscle recovery and increase your ability to lose weight overnight as well.

According to a study published in the Journal of Pineal Research,

“muscle inflammation and oxidative stress resulting from exhaustive exercise were less severe in the muscles of melatonin‐treated animals than in the muscles of control animals. Thus, melatonin treatment may reverse exercise‐induced skeletal muscle inflammation and stimulate growth factor synthesis.”

I use melatonin probably 80% of the time throughout the entire year. I would use it 100% of the time but I like to occasionally give my body a break from melatonin supplements.

I suggest that you only use between 1mg and 3mg of melatonin per night, and you avoid taking too dosages larger than this. You should always speak with your doctor if you have any additional questions.

Personally, I prefer 1-3mg per night.

According to a study published in The Journal of Biological and Medical Rhythm Research on the effect of melatonin for improving sleep and alleviating jet lag symptoms,

“Fast Release (FR) melatonin formulations were more effective than the slow-release formulation. The 5-mg FR formulation significantly improved the self-rated sleep quality (p <. 05), shortened sleep latency (p <. 05), and reduced fatigue and daytime sleepiness (p <. 05) after intercontinental flight. The lower physiological dose of 0.5 mg was almost as effective as the pharmacological dose of 5.0 mg. Only the hypnotic properties of melatonin, sleep quality and sleep latency, were significantly greater with the 5.0-mg dose.”

If you would like to try a melatonin supplement to help you lose weight overnight, there are many cheap and effective options. However, I believe the best option is:

Amazon Elements Melatonin

5.     Zinc

According to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition,

“the increase in growth velocity resulting from zinc supplementation was associated with increased plasma IGF-I concentrations, we suggest that the growth-stimulating effect of zinc might be mediated through changes in circulating IGF-I.”

Although many people understand that zinc is a valuable nutrient, not many people understand the true impact of a quality zinc supplement.

Not only does zinc improve your ability to grow muscles and increase your basal metabolic rate (BMR), it also keeps you healthy by keeping your immune system strong.

Although there is not conclusive research on the best dosage of zinc to help stimulate positive changes, I generally take between 25mg and 50mg of zinc per night. I use zinc supplements especially more consistently in the winter (to help my immune system), but they are extremely valuable all year.

If you would like to try a zinc supplement, I suggest:

Amazon Brand – Zinc

Concluding Thoughts – How to Lose Weight Overnight Fast

If you want to lose weight while you are sleeping, you need to prepare your body to work internally while you are asleep. The best way to do this is through using supplements, although there are other options as well.

Practicing yoga or meditation can also help you lose weight while sleeping.

I hope these tips are able to assist you!
